Description | 1) Scope: 1.1) DescriptorThis unit covers the first response to an unplanned gas facility event, assessing the situation and taking appropriate action as directed in accordance with relevant legislation, code, regulations and established procedures. It encompasses r managing the site response with the following priorities: protect human life, reduce trauma, maintain systems safety, ensure system supply, protect the environment and protect property. The unit is applied against the procedures found under the latest edition of Australian and New Zealand Standard AS 2885.3. Facilities could include metering, compressors, valves, regulators, heaters, scraper, telemetry and odourisation. | ||

Learning Outcomes and Application | 2)This competency standard shall apply to gas facilities, subject to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) /Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and duty of care requirements being met for the workplace.This unit is intended as an AQF 3 competency for new and existing workers in the gas industry. It is suitable for employment-based programs under an approved contract of training. | ||
